Designing for Deflection
Group of 4
The purpose of this project was to design a structure to deform linearly elastically, achieving a 0.5 in deflection at the load point when a maximum of 200 lbf is applied. This structure needed to be within specific dimensions and not too heavy. My group mates and I experimented with different designs, such as a triangle shape, a hexagonal shape, and a rectangular shape with a crossbeam.
Deflection Along a Beam
The purpose of this assignment was to determine the deflection experienced along the axis of a beam when a load was applied to one end. Different variations of the beam were tested y applying varying fixture constraints to one end.
